SCALPTURE drop the lyric visualiser ‘Landsknecht‘ (German name for mercenaries of the Thirty Years’ War) as the next single taken from their new full-length “Landkrieg” (“Land Warfare”) in the shape of a video clip. The fourth album of the German death metal dogs of war has been slated for release on March 7, 2025.
Please see below for album details & biographical information of “Landkrieg“.

SCALPTURE comment: “Mercenaries from across Europe were enlisted by the highest bidding nobles to fight in what we now call the Thirty Years’ War,” vocalist and history buff Thorsten Pieper explains. “These were called ‘Landsknechte’ in German, which means literally ‘servants of the land’. They were typically battle-hardened veterans, known for their colourful and flamboyant apparel as well as the horrors, which they brought to the towns and regions that they ravaged on behalf of their masters. ‘Landsknecht’ is a straight forward death metal gut punch that portrays the brutality, chaos, and hopelessness that marked their often short lives during these seemingly endless decades of destruction”.
Here comes the German death metal tank again, crushing and smashing, bulldozing all resistance into oblivion and breaking through the lines. SCALPTURE deliver their fourth album “Landkrieg”, which means ‘land warfare’ in German, with deadly precision and an ambitious mission statement: to conquer the world.
Well, the band from Westphalia just wants their music to conquer. All members of SCALPTURE personally abhor violence and detest the warmongers of this planet. Still, war has been and is all they want to sing about. This time, it is not just one of the usual war topics but each song on “Landkrieg” revolves around the 30 Years’ War that devastated the German lands from 1618 until 1648 – after the Habsburg emperor pushed his lands ‘Into Catastrophe’ by trying to force all his subjects to become Catholic again in the long wake of the reformation.
On “Landkrieg”, SCALPTURE stay true to their deadly roots but their sound has been refined by endless hours on the road, playing more shows, and many days and nights well spent in the rehearsing space and at Hellforge Studio. The new songs are brutal, hard-hitting, and 100% death metal but leave room for variety and cool twists.
With each new album that followed, “Eisenzeit” (‘Iron Age’, 2020) and “Feldwärts” (“To the Fields”, 2022), SCALPTURE expanded their stylistic horizon, while also defining and focusing a sound of their own.
It is hardly surprising that all of SCALPTURE‘s album titles refer to the topic of ‘war’ that the band has decided to adopt as their prime lyrical theme. Staying away from glorifying stereotypes, their texts are built on detailed historical research and portray the horrors that the abyss of war has caused in some of the darkest hours of humankind.
SCALPTURE unleash a new “Landkrieg” and that leaves the world with only two choices: run for cover or bang that death metal head hard!
